Cookie Policy

Last updated: 30 May 2025

1) About this policy

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on britspark.co.uk, why we use them, and how you can control them.
For how we handle personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.

2) What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They can be “session” (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” (stay until they expire or you delete them). We also use similar technologies such as pixels and local storage.

3) Who sets cookies?

  • First-party cookies – set by BritSpark (our Website).
  • Third-party cookies – set by our service providers (e.g., Google, Meta) when enabled.

4) How we obtain consent

On your first visit we show a banner where you can Accept all, Reject all (non-essential), or Manage preferences by category. You can change your choices anytime via Cookie Settings (link in the footer). We only load Analytics and Advertising cookies after you’ve consented.

If you reject non-essential cookies, the site will still work, but some features (e.g., improved measurement or personalised ads) won’t run.

5) Cookie categories we use

  1. Strictly Necessary (always active)

Required for core site functionality (security, network management, accessibility, consent storage). Set on the basis of legitimate interests. These do not require consent.

Examples (illustrative):

  • __cf_bm, waf_* or similar – security & bot management (host/edge) – 30 minutes
  • cookie_consent, cmplz_* or borlabs-cookie – stores your choices – 6–12 months
  1. Analytics (requires consent)

Help us understand how the website is used (e.g., pages viewed, events, approximate geography). We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation and data retention settings appropriate for analytics.

Examples:

  • _ga – GA client ID – 13 months (varies by region)
  • _ga_* – GA session state – 13 months
  • _gid – GA daily identifier – 24 hours`
  1. Advertising & Measurement (requires consent)

Used to measure campaigns and (where enabled) build audiences for ads. We use Google Ads (including Consent Mode v2 signals) and Meta Pixel.

Examples:

  • _gcl_au – Google Ads conversion linking – 90 days
  • IDE / ANID / __Secure-ENID – Google advertising/anti-fraud – 13 months (EEA/UK)
  • _fbp – Meta Pixel identifier – 90 days

We do not run remarketing unless you’ve consented to this category.

6) Your choices

Manage or withdraw consent

  • Cookie Settings: use the footer link on any page to change or withdraw your consent.
  • Browser controls: you can block or delete cookies via your browser (see links below). Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break the site.
  • Do Not Track: we currently do not respond to DNT signals, but you can use the controls above.

7) Third-party providers

When enabled, third parties may process limited data (e.g., cookie IDs) to provide analytics/ads. Some providers transfer data outside the UK/EEA (e.g., to the US). We rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum. See each provider’s policy for details:

  • Google (Analytics & Ads): policies.google.com/technologies/cookies
  • Meta (Facebook) Technologies: facebook.com/policies/cookies

8) Data retention

Cookie lifetimes are listed above; analytics data is retained according to our GA4 settings and business needs. Personal data collected via cookies is handled per our Privacy Policy.

9) Updates to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page with the effective date shown above.
